SEMINARS @DISEG - Double header: Vibration Clear (Dr. Deastra) and CMD Discovery (Dr. Mariggiò)

The first seminar will be conducted by Dr. Deastra, who will present the project "VIBRATIONCLEAR". This MSCA-funded project aims to enhance seismic protection in urban areas through innovative devices called inerter-based vibrating barriers (I-ViBA). These systems offer low-cost, non-invasive seismic protection for clusters of buildings by utilizing inerter devices that generate significant vibration mitigation effects without direct connection to the protected structures.

The second seminar will be conducted by Dr. Mariggiò, who will present the project "CMDiscovery". This project proposes an innovative framework for discovering mechanical constitutive models directly from grayscale images, boundary displacements, and sparse force measurements, without requiring precomputed displacement fields or stress-strain labels. Using a physics-informed neural network (PINN), CMDiscovery simultaneously identifies the nodal displacement field and an interpretable constitutive model, accelerating qualification workflows and opening new horizons for in-situ characterization of complex, anisotropic materials.
