Marco Miniaci appointed as Full Professor at Politecnico di Torino

Marco Miniaci, CNRS researcher at IEMN (Institut d'Électronique, de Microélectronique et de Nanotechnologie) in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, France, has been appointed Professor at the Department of Structural, Building and Geotechnical Engineering (DISEG) at Politecnico di Torino starting June 18, 2025. Winner of a prestigious ERC Starting Grant (POSEIDON, 2021–2026) and coordinator of a Horizon Europe project (MAGNIFIC), Marco is also a scientific partner of the Doctoral Network “MetacMed” and director of the national network on "Complex Architecture Metamaterials" (GDR) ARCHI-META. His appointment was made possible by the MUR – YUR ERC grant, an initiative of the Ministry of University and Research to support ERC Principal Investigators wishing to return to Italy.
Marco earned his degree and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Bologna, with a thesis on elastic waves in structures and metamaterials. He has conducted numerous post-doctoral research experiences funded by Marie-Curie grants in various countries, including Poland, Italy, France, USA, and Switzerland. Since 2020, Marco has worked at CNRS on issues related to the propagation of elastic and acoustic waves in phononic crystals and bio-inspired and topological metamaterials, with applications in underwater acoustics, seismic engineering, non-destructive testing, and energy harvesting. Author of about 60 scientific articles, he received an award for the “Impact of MSCA on the Researcher's Career Development” from the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
