Seminar @DISEG: Transport of ionic species in clays: opportunities for electrical measurements - Dr. Andriy Yaroshchuk

DISEG invites you to the seminar “Transport of ionic species in clays: opportunities for electrical measurements”, which will take place on Friday, October 17th, 2025 at 5:00 PM in the Albenga Room, Politecnico di Torino. The event will feature Prof. Andriy Yaroshchuk (ICREA, Polytechnic University of Catalonia), an international expert in ionic transport phenomena in porous materials.
The seminar will explore how clays, due to their fixed charges, act as semipermeable membranes, affecting ion diffusion based on salinity. Understanding these processes is crucial for environmental and engineering applications, but direct measurements are often lengthy and complex. The talk will highlight how fast electrical measurements can provide valuable insights, opening new research and application opportunities, especially for geotechnical barriers.

We look forward to seeing many of you there!
