DISEG MOOCs on Edvance: advanced learning opportunities for everyone
The Department of Structural, Building and Geotechnical Engineering (DISEG) at Politecnico di Torino actively contributes to the Edvance – Digital Education Hub, the first national hub for advanced digital education in higher education.
Edvance is an initiative funded under the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), coordinated by Politecnico di Milano and developed in collaboration with several Italian universities. The platform provides over 200 Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), free and open to all, focused on advanced digital skills in areas such as engineering, sustainability, and innovation.
Courses are delivered online with a flexible format and, upon completion, participants can obtain digital certifications (Open Badges) that validate the acquired competences.
Within this ecosystem, DISEG faculty contribute a set of MOOCs in structural and geotechnical engineering, targeting students, researchers, and professionals interested in strengthening their knowledge in these fields.

- Surface wave methods for site characterization
This course introduces surface-wave methods for site characterization, focusing on the estimation of shear-wave velocity profiles, a key parameter in geotechnical and earthquake engineering. It covers both theoretical foundations and data acquisition and processing techniques. - Fundamentals of Structural Mechanics
The course reviews the main concepts and tools of structural mechanics, providing the essential background for understanding structural behaviour and analysis. - Fundamentals of Soil Mechanics
