DIWine Path Summer School 2026: Climate resilience and vineyard heritage in mountain landscapes

Online + Elva (Cuneo), Italy

Applications are open for the DIWine Path Summer School 2026, an international initiative promoted by the Politecnico di Torino addressing the impact of climate change on mountainous territories, with a focus on historic vineyard landscapes.
The Summer School explores how climate change is reshaping agricultural production, turning mountain areas into new spaces for viticultural experimentation and rural regeneration. Through an integrated, interdisciplinary, and multiscale approach, the programme investigates strategies to enhance and restore fragile historic vineyard landscapes in Valle Maira (Piedmont, Italy), focusing on the Lottulo case study.
Activities aim to foster innovative solutions for the economic and social reactivation of fragile territories, while contributing to the mitigation of hydrogeological risks. Participants will work with advanced technologies such as 3D surveying, mapping systems, and slope stability analysis, adopting a holistic perspective on territorial planning and agricultural land management.
A key objective is the design and enhancement of a hiking trail that symbolically connects the historical identity of the vineyard landscape with new forms of sustainable use and development.
The Summer School is open to a maximum of 15 participants, including Master’s and PhD students from Italian and international universities, and awards 3 ECTS credits.
