Vandone di Cortemiglia Archive
Antonio Vandone di Cortemilia was born in Terni in 1863 to a family originally from the Vigevano area. He graduated as a civil engineer in 1887 from the Royal School of Application for Engineers in Turin. Among his teachers was the notable figure Galileo Ferraris.
The collection includes 307 folders of projects for residential buildings, industrial plants, churches, public buildings, and others.
Vandone’s architectural works initially featured neo-medieval (Duchessa d’Aosta Kindergarten in Turin) or eclectic styles. In the early 20th century, his works aligned with Liberty architecture (notably the Maffei building in Turin, 1904). Later, after the first decade of the 20th century, his works returned to eclectic experiences (Zorio house in Turin, 1912), interspersed with solutions still recalling Liberty (Maffei villa in Procaria-Ceres, 1914) or the new Art Deco movement (renovation of the National Gallery ex Odeon in Turin, 1925).
