SOILMECH - Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering
We are an active research group in the field of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. Our research interests cover a wide range of topics, including Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering, Unsaturated Soils, Hydro-Chemo-Mechanical processes, Experimental Geomechanics, Site Characterization, Heritage Preservation, and Soil-Structure Interaction. We use cyclic and dynamic tests to define input parameters for seismic site response studies and soil-structure interaction, specifically the modulus reduction and damping curves that describe soil response at different strain levels. Additionally, we perform seismic and electric non-destructive measurements on a laboratory scale to monitor and study hydro-chemo-mechanical processes.
